2015 Elections: Meet PDP-APC Gubernatorial Candidates

The 2015 Nigerian general elections, scheduled for February 14, 2015, will determine the political landscape of the nation for the next 4 years.
This event is said to be the most important election held in Nigeria since the return to democracy. The governorship elections, scheduled for February 28, 2015, in 29 states across the country, carry special significance too.
This is due to the recent emergence of the new opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is a conglomerate of such political parties as the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and, partially, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been in power since 1999, and for the first time is facing stiff opposition from a rival political force.
The defection of many governors and senators from the PDP to the APC last year reduced the number of PDP-controlled states to 20.

The there is a big issue of terrorism which has plagued the country since 2009. The incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been accused by the press of not having the strength and wisdom to stop the insurgency.
At the Primaries, Jonathan ran unopposed and said: “After seeking the face of God, and in the quiet of my family, and after listening to the clarion call of Nigerians, I have accepted to present myself to serve a second term.”
The APC have presented a military conservative, and former military ruler of the nation, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as their candidate.
Unlike Jonathan, Buhari had to battle it out against Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha and TheLeadership newspaper publisher Sam Nda Isaiah.
